Cylinder Bore And Piston - Fitting
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
| 1 - PISTON DIAMETER |
| 2 - 14 mm (9/16 in.) |
Piston and cylinder wall must be clean and dry. Piston diameter should be measured 90 degrees to piston pin (1) about 14 mm (9/16 inch.) from the bottom of the skirt (2) as shown. See Fig 1.
- Cylinder bores should be measured halfway down the cylinder bore and transverse (measurement location B) to the engine crankshaft center line. See Fig 2. (Refer to ENGINE - SPECIFICATIONS) Correct piston to bore clearance must be established in order to assure quiet and economical operation.
NOTE:
Pistons and cylinder bores should be measured at normal room temperature, 70°F (21°C).
