Engine Block: Description

The cast iron engine block (7) is a two-piece assembly, consisting of the engine block (7) and bed plate (3). See Fig 1. The bed plate (3) incorporates the main bearing caps and bolts to the engine block. This design offers a much stronger lower end and increased engine block (7) rigidity. The rear oil seal retainer is integral with the block. The bed plate (3) and block (7) are serviced as an assembly.
