Rear Drum Brakes

1 - DUST CAP
2 - NUT
3 - DRUM
4 - HUB AND BEARING
5 - WHEEL CYLINDER
6 - SUPPORT PLATE
7 - BRAKE SHOES

All rear drum brake equipped vehicles feature 228mm rear drum brakes sales code designated BRB or BRK. The drum brakes are all two-shoe (7), internal-expanding type with an automatic adjuster screw.

Each rear drum brake consists of these major components as well as the attaching hardware: See Fig 1.

  2. Shoes (7)
  3. Support Plate (6)
  4. Wheel Cylinder (5)

The rear drum brakes also serve as part of the parking brake system. (Refer to BRAKES/PARKING BRAKE - DESCRIPTION)
