Section 71 (Mechanical Brake System - Base (Service Information)): Drum: Removal: Notes

  1. Raise vehicle. (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE)

  2. Remove the wheel mounting nuts (3), then the tire and wheel assembly.

  3. Remove the brake drum retaining clips (5) (if equipped).
  4. Slide the brake drum off the wheel mounting studs of the hub (7) and remove it from the vehicle. If the drum does not come off, further brake clearance can be obtained by backing off the brake adjuster screw. To do so perform the following procedure.
