Section 316 (Charging System (Service Information)): Generator: Removal: 3.5L

WARNING:
DISCONNECT NEGATIVE CABLE FROM BATTERY BEFORE REMOVING BATTERY OUTPUT WIRE (B+ WIRE) FROM GENERATOR. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN RESULT IN INJURY OR DAMAGE TO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
- Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable at battery.
- Remove generator drive belt. Refer to Cooling/Accessory Drive/BELT, Serpentine - Removal .
- Remove upper most mounting bolt (2) from generator (1).
- Remove generator bracket bolt (3) and remove bracket (4).
- Unsnap plastic protective cover (3) from B+ mounting stud.
- Remove B+ terminal mounting nut (2) and B+ terminal (1) at rear of generator.
- Disconnect field wire electrical connector (4) by pushing on connector tab.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove middle splash shield.
- Remove bolt (1) from transmission cooler line clamp at right crossmember (3) and reposition transmission cooler line (2).
- Remove lower mounting bolts (2) from generator (1).
- Remove generator from engine compartment.
