Section 316 (Charging System (Service Information)): Generator: Installation: 5.7L

Position generator (2) to engine and loosely install 2 mounting bolts (1).

Position support bracket (1) to generator and loosely install bolt (3) and nut (4).
Tighten generator mounting bolts to 65 N.m (48 ft. lbs.).
Tighten bracket nut (4) to 28 N.m (20.5 ft. lbs.).
Snap field wire connector into rear of generator.
Install B+ terminal eyelet to generator output stud. Tighten nut to 13 N.m (115 in. lbs.).

Position transmission cooler line (2) and install transmission cooler line clamp bolt (1) to right crossmember (3).
Install lower splash shield.
Lower vehicle.
CAUTION: When installing a serpentine accessory drive belt, the belt MUST be routed correctly. The water pump may be rotating in the wrong direction if the belt is installed incorrectly, causing the engine to overheat.
Install generator drive belt. Refer to Cooling/Accessory Drive/BELT, Serpentine - Installation .
Connect the negative battery cable and tighten nut to 5 N.m (45 in. lbs.).
