TUBE(S), Fuel, High Pressure: Removal: Removal

WARNING:
Observe the following precautions when working on fuel systems: No sparks, open flames or smoking. Avoid inhaling or swallowing fuel. Avoid eye and skin contact with fuel. Only pour fuel into an OSHA approved and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing. Failure to observe these precautions may result in fire, explosion, property damage, and serious or fatal injury.
WARNING:
High pressure fuel lines deliver diesel fuel under extreme pressure from the injection pump to the fuel injectors. This may be as high as 1600 bar (23, 206 psi). Use extreme caution when inspecting for high pressure fuel leaks. Fuel under this amount of pressure can penetrate skin causing personal injury or death. Inspect for high pressure fuel leaks with a sheet of cardboard. Wear safety goggles and adequate protective clothing when servicing fuel system. Make sure the area in which the vehicle is being serviced is in a well ventilated area and free of flames/sparks. Failure to comply may result in serious or fatal injury.
- Use the scan tool to read fuel pressure, release if pressure exists.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover.
- Remove the cylinder head cover sound insulators. Refer to Engine/Cylinder Head/COVER(S), Cylinder Head - Removal
.CAUTION: Do not crimp or bend fuel lines.NOTE: After removing injection lines and seal connections, use care to ensure cleanliness.
- Remove the high pressure line fittings at the fuel rail.
- Remove the high pressure fuel line fittings at the fuel injector.
- Remove the high pressure fuel lines.
