Sensor-Crankshaft Position: Removal: 6.1L

The Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (4) is located at the right-rear side of the engine cylinder block (1). It is positioned and bolted into a machined hole in the engine block.

  1. IF STARTER IS MOUNTED TO RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE:   Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable.
  2. Raise vehicle.
  3. IF STARTER IS MOUNTED TO RIGHT SIDE OF ENGINE:   Remove starter motor.
  4. Disconnect CKP electrical connector (2) at sensor.
  5. Remove CKP mounting bolt (3).
  6. Carefully twist sensor from cylinder block.
  7. Remove sensor from vehicle.
  8. Check condition of sensor o-ring.
