3.5L Engine

- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Remove belly pan. Refer to Frame and Bumpers/Under Body Protection/BELLY PAN - Removal
- Drain cooling system. See Cooling - Standard Procedure .
- Lower vehicle on hoist.
- Remove air box assy. Refer to Engine/Air Intake System/BODY, Air Cleaner - Removal
- Disconnect lower radiator hose (2) from thermostat housing (1).
- Remove thermostat housing bolts.
- Remove thermostat housing (1), thermostat, and gasket.NOTE: The OEM thermostat is staked in place at the factory. To ensure proper seating of replacement thermostat, carefully remove the bulged metal from the thermostat housing using a suitable hand held grinder. It is not necessary to restake the replacement thermostat into the thermostat housing.
- Clean gasket surfaces.
