Diagnostic Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Dodge Magnum, 2008 Dodge Charger, and 2008 Chrysler 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. 1) OTHER DTC'S SET 
    NOTE: The C151D fault would be triggered under the following two conditions: 1.) A trigger module related problem. In this case, this fault will not exist on its own. It will always be activated in conjunction with either a C1506, C1507, C1509, U1114, U1115, U1117, C150A, C150B, C150C fault. These are all trigger module related faults. Follow the diagnostic procedure for these faults to rectify the issue. 2.) A sensor related issue. In this case, the C151D fault may exist on its own or with faults C1501, C1502, C1503, C1504 which are sensor related faults. In this case; i.e. Check that the trigger module is mounted properly. This is to ensure that the 125kHz signal is reaching the sensor. If the trigger module is not mounted properly repair as necessary first.

    Repair all other DTC's first.

    Is this DTC still active after all other DTC's repaired? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To  2).

    No 

    1. Test Complete.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
  2. 2) VERIFY DTC IS ACTIVE 
    NOTE: Ensure the IOD fuse is installed and battery voltage is between 10 and 16 volts before proceeding.

    Turn the ignition on.

    With the scan tool, read and record WIN DTCs.

    With the scan tool, erase WIN DTCs.

    Cycle the ignition switch.

    With the scan tool, read WIN DTCs.

    Does this DTC reset? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To  3).

    No 

    1. Perform the Stored Lost Communication test procedure. Refer to DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING .
    2. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1 .
  3. 3) (D508) COM-LIN TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LAN CIRCUIT OPEN 

    Turn the ignition off.

    Disconnect the Tire Pressure Trigger Module.

    Disconnect the WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN).

    With an ohmmeter measure the resistance of the (D508) COM-LIN TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LAN CIRCUIT.

    Is the resistance below 5 Ohms? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To  4).

    No 

    1. Repair or replace the open circuit.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
  4. 4) FUSED IGNITION SWITCH OUTPUT (RUN) CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE

    Turn the ignition off.

    Disconnect the Tire Pressure Transponder harness connector.

    Disconnect the WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) harness connector.

    Turn the ignition on.

    Using a 12-volt test light connect to ground, check the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit.

    NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

    Is the test light illuminated and bright? 

    Yes 

    1. Go to  5).

    No 

    1. Repair the Fused Ignition Switch Output (Run) circuit for an open circuit or high resistance.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
  5. 5) GROUND CIRCUIT(S) OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE

    Using a 12-volt test light connect to battery voltage, probe each of the Ground circuit(s).

    NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compare the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

    Does the test light illuminate brightly? 

    Yes 

    1. Go to  6).

    No 

    1. Repair the Ground circuit(s) for an open circuit or high resistance.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
  6. 6) (D508) COM - LIN TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LAN CIRCUIT SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    Turn the ignition on.

    Measure the voltage of the (D508) COM - LIN Tire Pressure Monitor LAN circuit.

    Is there any voltage present? 

    Yes 

    1. Repair the (D508) COM - LIN Tire Pressure Monitor LAN circuit for a short to voltage.

    No 

    1. Go to  7).
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
  7. 7) (D508) COM - LIN TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LAN CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND

    Turn the ignition off.

    Measure the resistance between ground and the (D508) COM - LIN Tire Pressure Monitor LAN circuit.

    Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms? 

    Yes 

    1. Repair the (D508) COM - LIN Tire Pressure Monitor LAN circuit for a short to ground.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .

    No 

    1. Go to  8).
  8. 8) (D508) COM - LIN TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR LAN CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE

    Use a jumper wire with one end connected to ground and the other to the (D508) COM - LIN Tire Pressure Monitor LAN circuit in the Front Left Pressure Tire Transponder harness connector.

    Using a 12-Volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe the (D508) COM - LIN Tire Pressure Monitor LAN circuit in the TPM harness connector.

    NOTE: The test light should be illuminated and bright. Compared the brightness to that of a direct connection to the battery.

    Does the test light illuminate bright? 

    Yes 

    1. Go to  9).

    No 

    1. Repair the (D508) COM - LIN Tire Pressure Monitor LAN circuit for an open circuit or high resistance.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
  9. 9) POWER AND GROUND CIRCUIT OPEN 

    Turn the ignition on.

    With a voltmeter measure the voltage between the power and ground circuit at the Trigger Module.

    Is the voltage at least the same as battery voltage? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To  10).

    No 

    1. Repair the open circuit.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
  10. 10) CHECK FOR ADDITIONAL TRIGGER MODULE COMMUNICATION RELATED DTCs 

    With the scan tool, select Network View and select Advanced.

    Is there more than one module with active DTCs "Logged Against" the WCM? 

    Yes 

    1. Replace/update the WIRELESS IGNITION NODE (WIN) in accordance with the service information.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .

    No 

    1. Replace the Tire pressure trigger Module in accordance with the service information.
    2. Perform TPM VERIFICATION .
