Diagnostic Test

  1. 1) LOCK/UNLOCK FUNCTION 
    NOTE: For all RKE tests, the key must be out of the ignition.

    Does the Lock/Unlock function with the interior door switches? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To step  2).

    No 

    1. Perform Power Lock/Unlock System diagnosis. refer to POWER LOCKS - SERVICE INFORMATION article.
  2. 2) RKE FUNCTION AT 20 FEET 

    Does the RKE Function at 20 feet? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To step  3).

    No 

    1. Go To step  4).
  3. 3) RKE FUNCTION AT 100 FEET 

    Does the RKE Function at 100 feet? 

    Yes 

    1. Test complete.

    No 

    1. Replace the antenna in accordance with the service information.
  4. 4) WCM/WIN DTCS 

    Does the WCM/WIN display any DTCs? 

    Yes 

    1. Perform WCM/WIN diagnosis. refer to ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS article

    No 

    1. Go To step  5).
  5. 5) RKE FUNCTION INSIDE VEHICLE 

    Sit inside the vehicle.

    Push the Key Fob RKE Lock/Unlock buttons.

    Does the RKE Lock/Unlock work? 

    Yes 

    1. Go To step  6).

    No 

    1. Go To step  9).
  6. 6) ANTENNA COAX CABLE NOT PROPERLY CONNECTED 

    Pull on the Antenna COAX cable connector at the WIN.

    Did the connector come off without releasing the lock tab (not properly seated)? 

    Yes 

    1. Connect Antenna.
    2. Go To step  2).

    No 

    1. Go To step  7).
  7. 7) VERIFY COAX CONNECTION AT WIN 

    Pull Antenna connector off WIN. Verify no bent pins.

    Are there any bent pins? 

    Yes 

    1. Replace antenna.
    2. Go To step  2).

    No 

    1. Go To step  8).
  8. 8) PINCHED WIRE 

    Inspect the ANTENNA Lead COAX Cable for a pinched wire.

    Has the COAX cable been pinched or damaged? 

    Yes 

    1. Replace antenna.
    2. Go To step  2).

    No 

    1. Perform WIN diagnostics. refer to ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS article.
  9. 9) RKE FUNCTION INSIDE VEHICLE 

    Disconnect the Antenna COAX Cable lead connector to WIN.

    Sit inside the vehicle. Push the RKE Key Fob Lock/Unlock buttons.

    Does the RKE Lock/Unlock work? 

    Yes 

    1. Replace the antenna.

    No 

    1. Go To step  10).
  10. 10) CHECK FOR 12 VOLTS AT WIN 

    Connect the Antenna Lead to WIN.

    Disconnect the WIN harness connector.

    Using the appropriate wiring diagrams, check for Fused B+ at the WIN harness connector.

    Is Fused B+ present? 

    Yes 

    1. Perform WIN diagnostics. Refer to ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES - ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSTICS article.

    No 

    1. Repair the appropriate circuits.
