Timing Chain Cover

- Disconnect the battery negative cable.
- Remove the engine cover (1).
- Remove the air cleaner assembly.
- Drain the cooling system.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the cooling fan.
- Remove the coolant bottle and washer bottle.
- Remove the fan shroud.NOTE: It is not necessary to disconnect A/C lines or discharge freon.
- Remove A/C compressor and set aside. Refer to REMOVAL

1 - Special Tool 1023 Puller 2 - Special Tool 8513A Insert - Remove the generator.
- Remove the upper radiator hose.
- Disconnect both heater hoses at the timing cover.
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose at engine.
- Remove accessory drive belt tensioner and both idler pulleys.
- Remove the crankshaft damper (2). See REMOVAL .NOTE: Do not remove the hoses from the power steering pump.
- Remove power steering pump and set aside.
- Remove the dipstick support bolt.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove the oil pan and pick up tube. See REMOVAL .NOTE: It is not necessary to remove water pump for timing cover removal.
- Remove the timing cover bolts and remove cover.
- Verify that the timing cover slide bushings (1) are located in timing cover.
