3.5L Engine

- Disconnect negative cable.
- Raise vehicle on hoist.
- Remove belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN .
- Drain cooling system (Refer to COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
1 - THERMOSTAT HOUSING 2 - RADIATOR HOSE - Lower vehicle on hoist.
- Remove air box assembly. Refer to HOUSING-AIR CLEANER .
- Disconnect lower radiator hose (2) from thermostat housing (1). See Fig 1.
- Remove thermostat housing bolts.
- Remove housing, thermostat, and gasket.NOTE: The OEM thermostat is staked in place at the factory. To ensure proper seating of replacement thermostat, carefully remove the bulged metal from the thermostat housing using a suitable hand held grinder. It is not necessary to restake the replacement thermostat into the thermostat housing.
- Clean gasket surfaces.
