Gearshift Cable Assembly

1 - GEARSHIFT KNOB
  1. Pull up on gearshift knob (1) with moderate force to remove from gearshift mechanism. See Fig 1.

  2. Remove shifter boot/bezel (1) assembly from console by lifting up at mounting ring area. See Fig 2.

  3. Remove the center console (1) assembly if equipped. See Fig 3.

    4 - CLIP
  4. Remove crossover cable retaining clip (4) and disconnect from shift lever (3). See Fig 4.

  5. Remove selector cable retaining clip (2) and disconnect from shift lever (3). See Fig 5.

  6. Remove air cleaner assy (1). See Fig 6.
  7. Remove battery hold-down clamp and battery. See Fig 7.

  8. Disconnect battery cables and remove the battery (1).

  9. Remove battery tray (1). See Fig 8.

  10. Remove cable retaining clips (5) and remove cables (4) from bracket (2). See Fig 9.
  11. Disconnect cables (4) from the shift levers at the transaxle (1). See Fig 9.
    CAUTION: Pry up with equal force on both sides of shifter cable isolator bushings to avoid damaging cable isolator bushings.

    Remove converter heat shield. See Fig 10.

  12. Raise vehicle on hoist.
  13. Remove remaining grommet plate-to-floor pan screw (2). See Fig 11.
  14. Remove cable assembly (1) from vehicle.
