Pan - Oil: Removal: AWD

- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Drain the cooling system (Refer to COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Remove the oil level indicator tube (2) fastener at the right exhaust manifold. See Fig 1.
1 - FASTENER 2 - LEFT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 3 - INTERMEDIATE SHAFT HOUSING 4 - OIL PAN - Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the splash shield.
- Drain engine oil and remove the oil filter.
- Remove the left axle shaft (2). See Fig 2.
- Disconnect the power steering hoses from the power steering rack.
- Remove the left front axle intermediate shaft support bracket and housing (3).
1 - BRACKET 2 - RIGHT FRONT DRIVE AXLE 3 - AXLE HOUSING 4 - FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HEAT SHIELD - Remove the front drive shaft heat shield (4). See Fig 3.
- Paint mark and remove the front drive shaft. See Fig 3.
- Remove the right catalytic converter.
- Separate the power steering hose from cradle hold down and position the hose aside.
- Remove the lower engine mount to cradle fasteners.
- Remove the front sway bar.
- Raise and support the engine with a jack stand.
- Remove the front axle housing support bracket (1). See Fig 3.
1 - BRACKET 2 - BOLT 3 - DRIVE AXLE HOSING 4 - FRONT DRIVE SHAFT SHIELD - Remove the front axle housing (3) fasteners, rotate the housing position and remove the axle housing (3). See Fig 4.
- Lower the engine and remove the jack stand.
1 - COVER 2 - BOLT - Remove the oil cooler hoses from the oil cooler and remove the oil cooler (if equipped). Refer to COOLER-ENGINE OIL . .
- Separate the oil level indicator tube from the oil pan.
- Remove the flex plate cover (1). See Fig 5.
1 - OIL PAN 2 - BOLT 3 - NUT 4 - GASKET 5 - ENGINE BLOCK - Remove the oil pan (1). See Fig 6.
