Removal-2.2L Diesel

- Disconnect battery negative terminal.
- Remove engine top appearance cover.
1 - ENGINE COMPARTMENT SILENCER 2 - ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT SPLASH SHIELD - Remove filler cap from power steering fluid reservoir.
- Siphon as much fluid as possible from fluid reservoir.
- Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove lower engine compartment silencer assembly and accessory drive belt splash shield (2).
1 - PULLEY MOUNTING BOLTS 2 - RIGHT FRAME RAIL 3 - PRESSURE HOSE FITTING 4 - PULLEY - Remove accessory drive belt. See REMOVAL .
- Remove 3 bolts (1) securing pulley (4) to power steering pump. See Fig 3.
- Back out tube nut securing power steering fluid pressure hose (3) to power steering pump and remove hose from pump. Cap off hose end and pump pressure port.
1 - POWER STEERING SUPPLY HOSE 2 - COOLANT BYPASS HOSE 3 - HEATER HOSE TUBE 4 - LOWER RADIATOR HOSE - Drain engine coolant, Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Lower vehicle.
- Remove engine cooling module (radiator, fan, A/C condenser, and turbo intercooler). See REMOVAL .
- Remove generator. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Disconnect power steering fluid supply hose (1) at power steering pump.
- Remove radiator hose at inlet to water pump.
- Remove heater hose tube (3) at water pump.
- Remove heater bypass hose (2) at water pump.
1 - WATER PUMP 2 - REAR MOUNTING BOLT 3 - A/C COMPRESSOR 4 - WATER PUMP INLET - Remove EGR mixing chamber.
- Remove rear mounting bolt fastening water pump (1) to engine.
1 - LONG MOUNTING BOLTS 2 - FRONT MOUNTING BOLTS 3 - PUMP ASSEMBLY 4 - MOUNTING PLATE - Remove 4 bolts securing A/C compressor to engine and move compressor off mount. Use care not to over extend A/C lines.
- Raise vehicle. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove 3 front pump mounting bolts (2).
- Loosen 2 long pump mounting bolts (1) until threads are released from threaded brackets on opposite end (not shown). These two bolts do not need to be completely removed from mounting plate.
- Loosen, but do not remove, remaining bolts fastening mounting plate (4) to engine.
- Lower vehicle.
- Rotate power steering pump/water pump assembly up away from engine and remove from engine compartment.
