Removal-2.2L Diesel

  1. Disconnect battery negative terminal.
  2. Remove engine top appearance cover.

  3. Remove filler cap from power steering fluid reservoir.
  4. Siphon as much fluid as possible from fluid reservoir.
  5. Raise and support vehicle.
  6. Remove lower engine compartment silencer assembly and accessory drive belt splash shield (2).

  7. Remove accessory drive belt. See REMOVAL .
  8. Remove 3 bolts (1) securing pulley (4) to power steering pump. See Fig 3.
  9. Back out tube nut securing power steering fluid pressure hose (3) to power steering pump and remove hose from pump. Cap off hose end and pump pressure port.

  10. Drain engine coolant, Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  11. Lower vehicle.
  12. Remove engine cooling module (radiator, fan, A/C condenser, and turbo intercooler). See REMOVAL .
  13. Remove generator. Refer to REMOVAL .
  14. Disconnect power steering fluid supply hose (1) at power steering pump.
  15. Remove radiator hose at inlet to water pump.
  16. Remove heater hose tube (3) at water pump.
  17. Remove heater bypass hose (2) at water pump.

  18. Remove EGR mixing chamber.
  19. Remove rear mounting bolt fastening water pump (1) to engine.

  20. Remove 4 bolts securing A/C compressor to engine and move compressor off mount. Use care not to over extend A/C lines.
  21. Raise vehicle. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  22. Remove 3 front pump mounting bolts (2).
  23. Loosen 2 long pump mounting bolts (1) until threads are released from threaded brackets on opposite end (not shown). These two bolts do not need to be completely removed from mounting plate. 
  24. Loosen, but do not remove, remaining bolts fastening mounting plate (4) to engine.
  25. Lower vehicle.
  26. Rotate power steering pump/water pump assembly up away from engine and remove from engine compartment.
