Diagnostic Test

1) CHECK THE AUTOSTICK SWITCH

Turn the ignition off to the lock position.

Disconnect the AutoStick® harness connector.

Measure the resistance between the AutoStick Switch MU circuit and the AutoStick Switch MU Return circuit while checking each switch position.

NOTE: Use the above chart to and compare your resistive readings.

Does the AutoStick Switch resistance readings match the above chart?

Yes

Using the schematics as a guide, check the Electronic Shift Module (ESM) terminals for corrosion, damage, or terminal push out. Pay particular attention to all power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace the ESM (Steering Column) per the Service Information.
Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .

Replace the AutoStick Switch (Shift Lever) per the Service Information.
Perform NAG1 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
