Diagnostic Test
- 1) CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH OPERATION
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, monitor the Clutch Upstop Switch.
Press and release the Clutch Pedal several times.
Does the Clutch Upstop Switch state change as the pedal is pressed and released?
Yes
- Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
No
- Go To 2).
- 2) CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH
Disconnect the Clutch Pedal Position Switch harness connector.
Connect a jumper wire between the (Z906) Ground circuit and the (T26) Clutch Upstop Switch Signal circuit in the Clutch Pedal Position Switch harness connector.
With the scan tool, monitor the Clutch Upstop Switch status.
Does the Clutch Upstop Switch status change with the jumper in place?
Yes
- Replace the Clutch Pedal Position Switch.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
No
- Go To 3).
- 3) (T26) CLUTCH UPSTOP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (T26) Clutch Upstop Signal circuit in the Clutch Pedal Position Switch harness connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (T26) Clutch Upstop circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
No
- Go To 4).
- 4) (T26) CLUTCH UPSTOP SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
Measure the resistance of the (T26) Clutch Upstop Signal circuit between the Clutch Pedal Position Switch harness connector and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5).
No
- Repair the open in the (T26) Clutch Upstop Signal circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
- 5) (Z906) GROUND CIRCUIT
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the (Z906) ground circuit in the Clutch Pedal Position Switch harness connector.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
Yes
- Go To 6).
No
- Repair the open in the (Z906) ground circuit for an open.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
- 6) PCM NOTE: Before Continuing: Disconnect the PCM harness connector and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
