2.2L Diesel

NOTE: Before proceeding, review all Warnings and Cautions. (Refer to COOLING - WARNING)  and (Refer to STEERING - WARNING) .

  1. Disconnect battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Remove engine top appearance cover.

  3. Remove filler cap from power steering fluid reservoir.
  4. Siphon as much fluid as possible from fluid reservoir.
  5. Raise vehicle. (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
  6. Remove lower engine compartment silencer assembly and accessory drive belt splash shield (2). See Fig 2.

  7. Remove accessory drive belt (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELT - REMOVAL) .
  8. Remove 3 bolts (1) securing pulley (4) to power steering pump. See Fig 3.
  9. Back out tube nut securing power steering fluid pressure hose (3) to power steering pump and remove hose from pump. Cap off hose end and pump pressure port.

    2 - COOLANT BYPASS HOSE
    3 - HEATER HOSE TUBE
    4 - LOWER RADIATOR HOSE
  10. Drain engine coolant, (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/COOLANT - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
  11. Lower vehicle.
  12. Remove engine cooling module (radiator, fan, A/C condenser, and turbo intercooler). (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR - REMOVAL) 
  13. Remove generator. (Refer to ELECTRICAL/CHARGING/GENERATOR - REMOVAL) .
  14. Disconnect power steering fluid supply hose (1) at power steering pump. See Fig 4.
  15. Remove radiator hose at inlet to water pump.
  16. Remove heater hose tube (3) at water pump.
  17. Remove heater bypass hose (2) at water pump.

  18. Remove EGR mixing chamber.
  19. Remove rear mounting bolt fastening water pump (1) to engine. See Fig 5.

  20. Remove 4 bolts securing A/C compressor to engine and move compressor off mount. Use care not to over extend A/C lines.
  21. Raise vehicle, (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
  22. Remove 3 front pump mounting bolts (2). See Fig 6.
  23. Loosen 2 long pump mounting bolts (1) until threads are released from threaded brackets on opposite end (not shown). These two bolts do not need to be completely removed from mounting plate. 
  24. Loosen, but do not remove, remaining bolts fastening mounting plate (4) to engine.
  25. Lower vehicle.
  26. Rotate power steering pump/water pump assembly up away from engine and remove from engine compartment.
