Fluid Cooler: Removal
NOTE:
This procedure applies only to vehicles without a turbocharged engine that have an externally mounted cooler.
NOTE:
Before proceeding, (Refer to STEERING - WARNING) .
- Siphon as much fluid as possible from the power steering fluid reservoir.
- Raise and support the vehicle. (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE)

1 - CROSSMEMBER 2 - COOLER 3 - RETURN HOSE 4 - PRESSURE HOSE - Remove the hose clamp attaching the fluid return hose (3) to the power steering fluid cooler (2). Remove the return hose from the cooler.
1 - STEERING GEAR OUTLET FITTING 2 - POWER STEERING COOLER 3 - FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER 4 - TUBE CLAMP - LHD - Remove the hose clamp attaching the power steering cooler hose to the fitting (1) in the power steering gear outlet port. Remove the hose from the fitting.
- LHD - Remove the two screws securing the cooler (2) to the front suspension crossmember (3).
- LHD - Open the tube routing clamp (4) on the right front of the power steering gear housing and remove the cooler tube from it.
1 - STEERING GEAR OUTLET FITTING 2 - POWER STEERING COOLER 3 - FRONT SUSPENSION CROSSMEMBER - RHD - Remove the hose clamp attaching the power steering cooler hose to the fitting (1) in the power steering gear outlet port. Remove the hose from the fitting.
- RHD - Remove the two screws securing the cooler (2) to the front suspension crossmember (3).
- Remove the cooler from the vehicle.
