Valve Springs And Valve Seals In Vehicle

1 - VALVE SPRING COMPRESSOR MD 998772A
2 - AIR HOSE
  1. Remove cylinder head cover. Refer to REMOVAL .
  2. Remove camshafts. Refer to REMOVAL .
  3. Rotate crankshaft until piston is at TDC on compression.
  4. With air hose attached to Cylinder Compression Pressure Adapter 8116 installed in spark plug hole (2), apply 90-120 psi air pressure.
  5. Using Valve Spring Compressor MD-998772-A (1) with Valve Spring Compressor Adapter 6779, compress valve springs and remove valve locks. See Fig 1.

    2 - VALVE RETAINER
    3 - VALVE SPRING
    4 - VALVE STEM SEAL
    5 - VALVE STEM
  6. Remove Valve Spring Compressor Adapter 6779 and remove valve retainer (2).
  7. Remove valve spring(s) (3).
  8. Remove valve stem seal(s) (4). See Fig 2.
