Gearshift Mechanism Replacement

1 - SHIFTER ASSEMBLY
  1. Install shifter assy. (1) to floor pan. See Fig 1. Install and tighten four nuts to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.) torque.

  2. Install selector cable (3) to shifter lever and secure cable to shifter bracket. Install clip (2). See Fig 2.

  3. Install crossover cable (3) to shifter lever and secure cable to shifter bracket. Install clip (4). See Fig 3.
    NOTE: Only the crossover cable is adjustable. The selector cable does not have any adjustment capabilities.
  4. Adjust crossover cable. See ADJUSTMENTS .

  5. Install center console assembly. See Fig 4. Install rear power window switch (if equipped) and fasten harness to console.

  6. Position gearshift boot (1) over the gearshift mechanism and engage tab on mount ring at front to opening in console. Apply hand pressure to engage bosses on mount ring of boot to console opening slots. See Fig 5.

  7. Position gearshift knob hole over the gearshift mechanism and align the shift pattern. See Fig 6.
  8. Verify that shift pattern is aligned properly.
  9. Strike knob (1) with rubber mallet to engage knob to mechanism.
