Housing-Air Inlet

NOTE: LHD model with A/C shown in illustrations. RHD and heater-only models similar.

  1. Align the pivot shafts of the recirculation-air door (3) to the pivot shaft holes in the air inlet housing (5) and carefully install the left half of the air inlet housing to the right half of the housing.
  2. Install the screws (4) that secure the two halves of the air inlet housing together. Tighten the screws to 2.2 N.m (20 in. lbs.).
    NOTE: If the foam seal on the air distribution housing outlets is deformed or damaged, the seal must be replaced.
  3. Inspect the foam seal (1), especially at the parting line (2). If the foam seal is deformed or damaged, it must be replaced.

    NOTE: Install the recirculation door pivot lever by carefully pushing it straight into the end of the recirculation door pivot shaft.
  4. Install the recirculation door pivot lever (1) into the end of the recirculation door pivot shaft (2) on the driver side of the air inlet housing (3). Make sure the lever is fully engaged to the shaft.

  5. Install the recirculation door actuator (1) onto the driver side of the air inlet housing (2). If necessary, rotate the actuator slightly to align the pin on the actuator lever (4) with the groove in the recirculation door lever (3).

  6. Install the three screws (1) that secure the recirculation door actuator (2) to the driver side of the air inlet housing (3). Tighten the screws to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.).

  7. Install the air inlet housing (3) onto the HVAC housing (1). See INSTALLATION .
  8. Install the HVAC housing assembly. See INSTALLATION .
