Diagnostic Tests
- 1)
MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE BELOW 2.2 VOLTS
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, read the MAP Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage below 2.2 volts?
Yes
- Go To 2).
No
- Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .

(K811) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (K811) 5-volt Supply circuit in the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Is the voltage between 4.8 to 5.2 volts?
Yes
- Go To 3).
No
- Go To 7).

MAP SENSOR INTERNAL FAILURE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, monitor the MAP Sensor voltage.
Is the voltage between 4.8 and 5.2 volts?
Yes
- Replace the MAP Sensor.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
No
- Go To 4).
- 4)
(K1) MAP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (K1) MAP Sensor Signal circuit between the MAP Sensor harness connector and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5).
No
- Repair the open in the (K1) MAP Sensor Signal circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .

(K1) MAP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (K1) MAP Sensor Signal circuit in the MAP Sensor harness connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (K1) MAP Sensor Signal circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
No
- Go To 6).
- 6)
PCM (K1) MAP SENSOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT NOTE: Before Continuing: Disconnect the PCM harness connector and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.
If there are no possible causes remaining, view repair.
Repair
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module in accordance with the Service Information. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - PCM/ECM/SKREEM PROGRAMMING) .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .

(K811) 5-VOLT SUPPLY SHORTED TO BATTERY VOLTAGE
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the voltage of the (K811) 5-volt Supply circuit in the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Is the voltage above 5.2 volts?
Yes
- Repair the short to voltage in the (K811) 5-volt Supply circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
No
- Go To 8).
- 8)
(K811) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (K811) 5-volt Supply circuit in the MAP Sensor harness connector to ground.
Is the resistance below 100 ohms?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (K811) 5-volt Supply circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
No
- Go To 9).
- 9)
(K811) 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT OPEN
Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the MAP Sensor harness connector.
Disconnect the PCM harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the (K811) 5-volt Supply circuit between the MAP Sensor harness connector and the PCM harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
Yes
- Go To 10).
No
- Repair the open in the (K811) 5-volt Supply circuit.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. (Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST) .
