Assembly-Folding Top: Installation
NOTE:
The folding top has been factory positioned to correlate with the location of the side window glass. The following procedure describes the process to install a new folding top assembly by locating it in the same position as the previously installed top. The entire folding top assembly should never be adjusted at its mounting points.
- If removed, install the water trough (1) into the rubber grommet (2) located at the rear of the shelf panel (3).
- Install the folding convertible top assembly (1) into the vehicle with the rear (floating) bow positioned within the water trough.
- Align the main pivot brackets to the previously marked bracket holes on the body.
- Install each bolt (2) one at a time that secures the main pivot bracket to the body. Make sure the position of the bracket aligns with each previously marked hole on the body. Tighten each bolt securely.
- Install the two nuts (3) that secure the hydraulic pump/motor assembly to the top of the shelf panel (4).
- Install the six retaining clips (3 per side) that secure the hydraulic hoses and wire harness to the body.
- Connect the convertible top wire harness to the main body harness.
- Reconnect the negative battery cable.
- Align each rear seat back support bracket (3) to the previously marked bracket locations.
- Install the three bolts (1) and two nuts (2) one at a time that secure each rear seat back support bracket. Make sure the position of the bracket aligns with each previously marked location. Tighten the fasteners securely.
- Connect each tension strap barrel to the shelf panel (2) and install the rubber grommets (1).
- Install the protective cover (3) to the top of the hydraulic pump/motor assembly (4).
- Adjust the convertible top to access the four screws (1) that secure the deck upper belt molding.
- Position the deck upper belt molding (3) and the water trough (2) to the rear of the vehicle. Make sure to center the molding to the rear of the vehicle.
- Install the four screws that secure the deck upper belt molding. Tighten the screws to 2.2 N.m (20 in. lbs.).
- Raise the convertible top.
- Position the convertible top well liner (2) into the vehicle and install the push-pins (1) that secure the liner to the rear seat back panel (3) and body (4).
- Install the rear seat back (Refer to BODY/SEATS/SEAT BACK-REAR - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the interior quarter trim panels (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/TRIM-REAR QUARTER PANEL - INSTALLATION) .
- Install the rear seat cushion (Refer to BODY/SEATS/CUSHION-REAR - INSTALLATION) .
- Verify that the dowel pins are properly aligned with the dowel pin receptacles in the windshield frame mounted strikers. If required, adjust the C-link stop-screws (Refer to BODY/CONVERTIBLE TOP - ADJUSTMENTS) .
