Mechanical Brake System - Base (Service Information): Valve-Proportioning: Installation

1 - PROPORTIONING VALVE IN SECONDARY PORT
2 - MASTER CYLINDER
3 - PROPORTIONING VALVE IN PRIMARY PORT
  1. Lubricate the O-ring on the proportioning valve. If not new, replace the O-ring on the proportioning valve. 
  2. Install the proportioning valve (1 or 3) in its master cylinder (2) port. Tighten the proportioning valve to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).

    1 - RIGHT FRONT BRAKE TUBE
    2 - PROPORTIONING VALVES
    3 - LEFT FRONT BRAKE TUBE
    4 - LEFT REAR BRAKE TUBE
    5 - RIGHT REAR BRAKE TUBE
  3. Install the brake tube (4 or 5) to the proportioning valve. Tighten the tube nut to 17 N.m (145 in. lbs.).

  4. Remove the brake pedal holder.
  5. Bleed the affected brake line. (Refer to BRAKES - STANDARD PROCEDURE) 
  6. Road test the vehicle to ensure proper operation of the brakes.
