Hydraulic Pump Bypass Screw

NOTE: Always verify that the bypass screw is tight in the pump housing prior to replacing a hydraulic pump/motor assembly.

The convertible top system is equipped with a hydraulic bypass screw that is used to relieve pressure from the hydraulic system in the event that the top must be manually raised or lowered (such as a low battery or a convertible top operating concern). Use the following procedure if the convertible top must be manually raised or lowered.

Open the luggage compartment door.
Turn the bypass screw (1) located on the bottom of the shelf panel (2) counterclockwise until the screw stops turning.
Carefully manually raise or lower the convertible top as necessary.

Once the convertible top is in the required position, turn the bypass screw (1) located on the bottom of the shelf panel (2) clockwise until seated. Tighten the screw to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.).
Close the luggage compartment door.
