Diagnostic Procedure

NO COMMUNICATION WITH RADIO ON J1850 BUS - SDARS (EARLY BUILD VEHICLES ONLY) - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 With the DRBIII®, attempt to communicate with other modules.
Can you communicate with other modules?
  1. Yes: Go To 2
  2. No: Refer to the NO J1850 Communication test in the Communication section.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

2 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Satellite Receiver Module harness connector.
Disconnect the Satellite Radio Multiplexer harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the PCI Bus circuit, between the Receiver harness connector and the Multiplexer harness connector.
Is the resistance more than 5 ohms?
  1. Yes: Repair the open in the PCI Bus circuit between the Satellite Receiver and the Multiplexer.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 3
All
3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Satellite Receiver Module harness connector.
Disconnect the Satellite Radio Multiplexer harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the PCI Bus circuit, between the Receiver harness connector and ground.
Is the resistance less than 100 ohms?
  1. Yes: Repair the short to ground in the (D25) PCI Bus circuit between the Satellite Receiver and the Multiplexer.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 4

4 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Satellite Receiver harness connector.
Disconnect the Satellite Radio Multiplexer harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the resistance of the PCI Bus circuit, between the Satellite Receiver harness connector and B+.
Is the resistance less than 100 ohms?
  1. Yes: Repair short to voltage in the PCI Bus circuit between the Satellite Receiver and the Multiplexer.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 5

5 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Satellite Receiver Module harness connector.
Disconnect the Satellite Radio Multiplexer harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the resistance of the PCI Bus circuit, between the Receiver harness connector and B+.
Is the resistance less than 100 ohms?
  1. Yes: Repair the open in the PCI Bus circuit between the Multiplexer and the Radio.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 6
All
6 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Radio harness connector.
Disconnect the Satellite Radio Multiplexer harness connector.
Measure the resistance of the PCI Bus circuit, between the Radio harness connector and ground.
Is the resistance less than 100 ohms?
  1. Yes: Repair the short to ground in the PCI Bus circuit between the Multiplexer and the Radio.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 7
All
7 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the Radio harness connector.
Disconnect the Satellite Radio Multiplexer harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Measure the resistance of the PCI Bus circuit, between the Radio harness connector and B+.
Is the resistance less than 100 ohms?
  1. Yes: Repair the short to voltage in the PCI Bus circuit between the Multiplexer and the Radio.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 8

NOTE: Before Continuing: Disconnect the Satellite Receiver harness connector and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.If no other possible causes remain, replace the Satellite Receiver Multiplexer.Start vehicle and attempt to operate Satellite Radio.Does the DTC reset?
  1. Yes: Go To 9
  2. No: Test Complete.

NOTE: Before Continuing: Disconnect the Satellite Receiver harness connector and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.If no other possible causes remain, view repair.
  1. Repair: Test Complete.
