Diagnostic Procedure

*INOP NO FAULT CODES - SDARS (EARLY BUILD VEHICLES ONLY) - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 With the DRBIII®, read DTCs.
Diagnose and repair any fault codes before continuing.
Turn ignition to the run position.
Insert a CD and check the operation of the CD player.
Does the CD player function correctly?
  1. Yes: Go To 2
  2. No: Refer to AUDIO/VIDEO to diagnose the Satellite Radio Multiplexer.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

2 Disconnect the Satellite Radio Receiver harness connector.
Turn the ignition switch to the run position.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the (X160) Fused B+ circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
  1. Yes: Go To 3
  2. No: Repair open in Fused B+ circuit. Check related fuses, if fuse is open, repair short to ground.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

3 Disconnect the Satellite Receiver Module harness connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Fused Switched Ignition Output circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
  1. Yes: Go To 4
  2. No: Repair the open in the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

 All
4 Disconnect the Satellite Receiver Module harness connector.
Turn the ignition on.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the Ground circuit.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
  1. Yes: Go To 5
  2. No: Repair open in the Ground circuit.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

5 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII®, read the SDARS subscription status.
Does the subscription status read "subscribed?"
  1. Yes: Go To 6
  2. No: Customer has not subscribed to this feature. No repair at this time.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

NOTE: Before Continuing: Disconnect the Satellite Receiver harness connector and check the related wiring terminals for corrosion, damage or terminal push out. Repair as necessary.
Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wire harness and connectors. Pay particular attention to all Power and Ground circuits.If there are no other possible causes remaining, view repair.
  1. Repair: Replace Satellite Receiver Module in accordance with service procedure.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
