Diagnostic Procedure

VF DIMMING MESSAGE MISSING (ACTIVE) - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII®, read the active ATC DTCs.
Does the DRBIII® display: NO COMMUNICATION WITH BCM?
  1. Yes: Return to the Heating & A/C SYMPTOM LIST and choose the symptom.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 2
 All
2 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII®, read BCM DTCs.
Does the DRBIII® display any DTCs?
  1. Yes: Refer to appropriate category for the related symptom(s).

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 3

NOTE: Make sure that the Panel Dimmer switch is not in set in Funeral Mode.
Turn the ignition on.Press the ATC Power switch on.Watch the ATC display panel while turning the Headlamp switch on and then off.Did the VF segments dim when the Headlamp switch was turned on?
  1. Yes: No problem found at this time.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Go To 4
 All
4 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII® in ATC, Monitor Display, PCI Bus Messages, look for the following message:
"VF DIM MSG PRESENT:"
Does the DRBIII® display: VF DIM MSG PRESENT: YES?
  1. Yes: Replace the Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
