Diagnostic Procedure

*NO RESPONSE FROM INTEGRATED POWER MODULE - DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

TEST ACTION APPLICABILITY
1 Turn the ignition on.
With the DRBIII®, enter Body then Body Computer.
Was the DRBIII® able to I/D or communicate with the BCM?
  1. Yes: Go To 2
  2. No: SYMPTOM LIST for problems related to no communication with the BCM.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

2 Turn the ignition off.
Gain access to the underside of the IPM.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the Fused B(+) circuit (large positive terminal under the IPM).
Is the test light illuminated?
  1. Yes: Go To 3
  2. No: Check the battery connection. If ok, repair the Fused B(+) circuit for an open.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

3 Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the IPM C5 harness connector.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to 12-volts, probe the Ground circuit.
Is the test light illuminated?
  1. Yes: Go To 4
  2. No: Repair the ground circuit for an open.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

NOTE: Ensure there is PCI Bus communication with other modules on the vehicle before proceeding. If not, SYMPTOM LIST from the menu and repair as necessary.
Turn the ignition off.Disconnect the negative battery cable.Disconnect the IPM C4 harness connector.Disconnect the DRBIII® from the DLC.Measure the resistance of the PCI Bus circuit between the IPM C4 connector and the DLC.Is the resistance below 5.0 ohms?
  1. Yes: Replace the Integrated Power Module in accordance with the service information.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .

  2. No: Repair the PCI Bus circuit for an open.

    Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST VER-1 .
