Removal (Without ABS)

  1. With the engine not running, pump the brake pedal 4-5 strokes until the pedal feel is firm.
  2. Unclip the air cleaner cover (2 clips) and move the cover aside.
  3. Remove the air cleaner housing by pulling straight up.
  4. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  5. Unlatch the power distribution center, lift it up, and move it to the side.
  6. Remove the vehicle wiring harness connector from the brake fluid level switch in master cylinder brake fluid reservoir. See Figure .
  7. Disconnect the 2 brake tubes from the master cylinder, and 2 brake tubes from the proportioning valves. See Fig 1 . Install plugs at all of the open brake tube outlets on the master cylinder.
  8. Clean the area around where the master cylinder attaches to the power brake booster using a suitable brake cleaner such as Mopar(R) Brake Parts Cleaner or equivalent.
  9. Remove the 2 nuts attaching the master cylinder to the power brake booster.
  10. Slide the master cylinder straight out of the power brake booster.
  11. To remove proportioning valves, unthread each from the master cylinder.
