A/C Expansion Valve: Removal

- Recover the refrigerant from the system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING. Remove the engine air inlet tube and the air distribution duct on vehicles equipped with 3.2L and 3.5L engine.
- Remove one nut to the A/C lines at the expansion valve. Loosen the bolt at the receiver/drier to pivot the lines away from the expansion valve. Plug or cap the open end of the refrigerant lines.
- Gently pull the A/C line out of the expansion valve. Remove 2 #30 Torx bolts retaining the expansion valve to the A/C evaporator. Remove the expansion valve from the vehicle.
