A/C Evaporator: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, and 2002 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Transfer the evaporator probe to the NEW evaporator. Place the evaporator probe in the same location as on the previous evaporator. See EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR  . Place the evaporator in the lower HVAC housing. Insert the access plate inside the HVAC housing and orientate it so that the locking tab is one-quarter turn clockwise to where the tab snaps into the HVAC case detent. Note that the plate will be flush with the outside of the HVAC housing.
  2. Turn the plate one-quarter turn counterclockwise to seat the locking tab in the HVAC case detent. Place the top half of the HVAC housing on the lower half. Tighten fasteners. Install the recirculation door and housing on the HVAC housing and tighten the screws. Install the recirculation door actuator. See RECIRCULATION DOOR ACTUATOR  .
  3. Install the HVAC housing in the vehicle. See HVAC HOUSING  . Evacuate and charge the A/C system. See RECOVERY, EVACUATION & RECHARGING in GENERAL SERVICING PROCEDURES article in GENERAL SERVICING.
