Parking Brake Lever & Cable: Installation

- Install the parking brake lever, with front cable, back in vehicle by first running the front cable, starting from the rear, along the left side of passenger compartment. Guide it into the hole at the rear of the floor pan.
- Guiding the lever assembly past the fuse junction block, position the parking brake release cable into place. Also, reinstall the brake warning lamp wire through access hole in lever assembly, onto switch.
- Position the lever assembly in its mounting place. Install and tighten the rear mounting bolt. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Ensure that the parking brake cable is properly routed and install the 2 screws securing the front parking brake cable retainer bracket screws.
- Install the 2 screws securing the front parking brake cable retainer bracket to the rear floor pan.
- Install the foot rest, securing it in place with its one mounting screw.
- Reposition the carpeting in place.
- Reinstall the front seat belt anchor bolt at the base of the B-pillar.
- Reinstall the rear door opening sill cover.
- Reposition the fuse junction block in place, and install the 2 lower, then the 2 upper mounting screws.
- Reinstall the lower A/C duct in place.
- Install the diagnostic connector to the instrument panel steel reinforcement. Reinstall the steel reinforcement to the instrument panel.
- Connect the parking brake release cable to the release handle.
- Reconnect the trunk release harness connector to the release switch.
- Reinstall the lower instrument panel cover below the steering column. Reinstall the 2 screws securing the lower instrument panel cover behind the fuse panel cover.
- Reinstall the fuse panel cover on left side of instrument panel.
- Reinstall driver's side kick panel.
- Reinstall driver's door opening sill cover.
- Raise the vehicle up.
- Reconnect the cable connector between the front and intermediate cables.
- Adjust parking brakes. See PARKING BRAKE CABLE under ADJUSTMENTS.
