Removal (Rear Cable)

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Loosen the parking brake cable tensioner nut until tension is remove from cables.
    • For left rear cable, remove the rear cable from the connector at the parking brake cable tensioner.
    • For right rear cable, remove the rear cable from the connector at the intermediate cable.
  4. Remove the retainer clip securing the preferred rear parking brake to the crossmember. See Fig 1 .
  5. Lower the vehicle enough to have rear brakes at good working height.
  6. Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly from the sides of the vehicle requiring service to the parking brake cable.
  7. Remove the rear caliper. See CALIPER  .
  8. Remove rear rotor. See ROTOR  .
  9. Remove parking brake shoes. See PARKING BRAKE SHOES  .
  10. Remove the parking brake actuator lever from the rear parking brake cable.
  11. Using a screwdriver, carefully compress the retainer tabs securing the rear parking brake cable to the disc brake adapter.
  12. Remove the rear parking brake cable from the disc brake adapter and vehicle.
