Installation (Rear Cable)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the rear parking brake cable by routing the leading end above the intermediate cable, then, between the frame, crossmember, and stabilizer bar.
  2. Install the other end of the cable into the disc brake adapter, allowing the retainer tabs to lock into place in the adapter.
  3. Install the parking brake actuator onto the end of the parking brake cable, behind the spring.
  4. Install the parking brake shoes. See PARKING BRAKE SHOES  .
  5. Install the rear rotor. See ROTOR  .
  6. Install the caliper. See CALIPER  .
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  8. Raise the vehicle back up.
  9. Install the rear parking brake cable into the rear suspension crossmember mounting hole.
  10. Install a NEW retaining clip on the end of the cable housing, to secure it in place.
    • For left rear cable, connect the left rear parking brake cable to the connector on the parking brake cable tensioner.
    • For right rear cable, connect the right rear parking brake cable to the connector on the intermediate parking brake cable.
  11. When repairs are complete, adjust parking brake shoes, then adjust parking brake tensioner. See PARKING BRAKE CABLE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
