Removal (Front)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using a brake pedal holding tool, depress brake pedal past the first 1" of travel and secure in this position. This will isolate the master cylinder reservoir from the rest of the brake system, not allowing the brake fluid to drain out of the reservoir.
  2. Raise and support vehicle.
  3. Remove the front wheel and tire assembly.
  4. Remove banjo bolt connecting brake flex hose to caliper. There are 2 washers (one on each side of flex hose fitting) that will come off at the same time.
  5. Remove the 2 caliper guide pin bolts. See Figure .
  6. Remove caliper assembly from steering knuckle. First rotate top of caliper away from steering knuckle, then lift caliper off bottom machined abutment on steering knuckle. Take care not to lose the 2 rail shims.
  7. If necessary, remove rotor. See ROTOR  .
