Installation (Rear)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. If NEW brake shoes have been installed, completely retract caliper piston back into piston bore of caliper assembly.
  2. Lubricate both adapter abutments with a liberal amount of Mopar(R) Multipurpose Lubricant, or equivalent.
  3. Install the rear rotor on the hub. See ROTOR  . Ensure face rotor is squarely seated on the face of the hub.
    4. CAUTION: Use care when installing the caliper assembly onto the adapter, so the caliper guide pin bushings do not get damaged by the mounting bosses.
  4. Carefully lower caliper and brake shoes over rotor and onto the adapter reversing removal procedure. See Figure .
    5. CAUTION: During installation, guide pin bolts, extreme caution should be taken not to cross-thread the caliper guide pin bolts.
  5. Install the caliper guide pin bolts. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Install tire and wheel assembly. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  7. Remove support and lower vehicle.
  8. Road test the vehicle and make several stops to wear off any foreign material on the brakes and to seat the brake shoe linings.
