Pressure Test Result Diagnosis

  1. If proper hydraulic pressure is present in any one pressure test, oil pump and pressure regulator valve are operating properly. Various clutch operating hydraulic pressures are present depending on gearshift lever position. See Fig 1.
  2. Low hydraulic pressure in all hydraulic pressure tests indicates a defective oil pump, restricted oil filter or stuck pressure regulator valve. If hydraulic pressure is not within specification, clutch hydraulic circuit is leaking.
  3. If overdrive clutch pressure exceeds 5 psi (.35 kg/cm2 ) in step  4 of OVERDRIVE CLUTCH PRESSURE TEST, a worn reaction shaft seal ring or defective solenoid assembly is indicated.
  4. If underdrive clutch pressure exceeds 5 psi (.35 kg/cm2 ) in step  5 of UNDERDRIVE CLUTCH PRESSURE TEST, solenoid assembly or PCM is faulty.
