Transmission Verification Test VER-1

NOTE:
After repair is complete, perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER-2 .
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Reconnect all disconnect connectors. Using scan tool, erase DTCs. Using scan tool, check for and erase PCM DTC P0700. If this DTC is set, DTC will cause MIL to remain illuminated.
- Using scan tool, display transmission temperature. Start and run engine until transmission temperature is greater than 110°F (43.3°C).
- Check transmission fluid level. See appropriate SERVICING article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Once transmission fluid level reaches bottom of dipstick, do not top off until fluid temperature reaches 180°F (82.2°C). Adjust transmission fluid level.
- Using scan tool, perform shift quality quick learn procedure and pinion factor procedure. Road test vehicle. Using scan tool, monitor engine RPM. While driving from a stop to 45 MPH with throttle opening of 20-25 degrees, make 15-20 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts. With vehicle speed less than 25 MPH, make 5-8 wide open throttle kickdowns to 1st gear. Allow 5 seconds in 2nd and 3rd gear between each kickdown.
- If vehicle is equipped with Autostick feature, shift vehicle several times using Autostick. Using scan tool, check DTCs during road test. If any DTCs set during road test, perform appropriate test. If no DTCs set, repair is complete.
NOTE:
If PCM or torque converter has been replaced, or if transaxle has been repaired or replaced, it is necessary to perform quick-learn and pinion factor procedure. See SHIFT QUALITY QUICK-LEARN PROCEDURE and PINION FACTOR PROCEDURE
under PROGRAMMING. If torque converter is replaced, or if PCM is replaced on a vehicle whose torque converter has less than 3750 miles and less than 360 minutes of PEMCC, using scan tool, restart TCC break-in procedure. This procedure must be completed to prevent TCC shudder.
NOTE:
Using DRB-III, perform EATX OBDII task manager to run Good Trip Time in each gear. This will confirm the repair and ensure that DTC has not reset.
