Diagnostic Procedure

This DTC is an informational DTC only. Malfunction may occur for various reasons. Check engine and transaxle cooling system for proper operation. Check radiator fan operation. Check transaxle fan operation, if equipped. Check transmission fluid level and ensure transaxle is not overfilled. See appropriate SERVICING article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Discuss driving style with customer. If customer is an aggressive driver, advise customer that aggressive driving for sustained periods may overheat transaxle. If aggressive driving style is not a factor, conditions necessary to set DTC P1797 do not currently exist.
