Diagnostic Procedure

    NOTE: Vehicle may exhibit intermittent shuddering for first few hundred miles until fluid gradually penetrates clutch friction material.
  1. Remove transaxle oil pan. Drain and refill using a NEW filter. Flush transaxle oil cooler. See appropriate SERVICING article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. Start engine and let idle for 10 minutes in Park. Turn engine off. Repeat drain, refill and flushing procedure.
  2. Using scan tool, perform BATTERY DISCONNECT procedure following scan tool manufacturer's instructions. This must be done to re-enable EMCC during A/C clutch engagement. Using scan tool, perform QUICK LEARN procedure. See SHIFT QUALITY QUICK-LEARN PROCEDURE  under PROGRAMMING. If DTC P0897 resets, or if vehicle continues to shudder after a few thousand miles, replace torque converter. See appropriate REMOVAL & INSTALLATION article in AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS.
