Right Rear Door Ajar CKT STG

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Possible Causes:

Testing

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) connector C4. Disconnect right rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector. Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe BCM connector C4 terminal No. 10, right rear door ajar switch sense circuit (Tan/Red wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates, repair short to ground in Tan/Red wire. If test light does not illuminate, leave right rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector disconnected and go to next step.
  2. Reconnect BCM connector C4. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select INPUTS/OUTPUTS, then read RR DOOR AJAR SW status. Connect, then disconnect right rear door lock motor/ajar switch connector. If scan tool display switches from CLOSED to OPEN, replace right rear door lock motor/ajar switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK RELEASE - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If scan tool display does not switch from CLOSED to OPEN, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
