Test 2C: No Response From Orc

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform air bag verification test after all repairs unless otherwise directed. See TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect ORC connector. See OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Using 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe ORC RUN and RUN/START circuits at ORC connector terminals No. 14. (Light Green/Yellow wire) and No. 15 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates at both terminals, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate at both terminals, repair open circuit or blown fuse in fused ignition switch output circuits (Light Green/Yellow and Dark Blue/Yellow wires). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait at least 2 minutes. Connect 12-volt test light to positive terminal of battery or other power source. Probe ORC connector terminal No. 16 (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair open circuit in black wire between ORC connector and ground.
  3. NOTE: Ensure there is PCI bus communications with other vehicle control modules. Diagnose and resolve any PCI bus malfunctions before proceeding to next step.
  4. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Using Scope Input Cable (CH7058), connect scope input cable to DRBIII channel one connector. Using Cable-to-Probe Adapter (CH7062) and Red and Black test probes, connect cable-to-probe adapter and Red and Black test probes to scope input cable. On DRBIII select DRBIII STANDALONE, LAB SCOPE, LIVE DATA and 12 VOLT SQUARE WAVE. Press F2 for scope and ENTER to select channel. Press F2 and use down arrow to set voltage range to 20 volts. Set probe to X10. Press F2 when voltage range and probe are set. Connect Black test probe to body ground. Connect Red test probe to ORC connector terminal No. 21 (Violet/Yellow wire). If voltage reading on DRBIII display pulses from 0-7.5 volts and no other malfunctions are detected, replace ORC. If voltage reading on DRBIII display does not pulse from 0-7.5 volts, repair open circuit in Violet/Yellow wire (PCI bus).
