Installation (2.4L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Stratus and 2002 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Target magnet has locating dowels that fit into machined locating holes in end of camshaft. See Fig 2.
  2. Install target magnet in end of camshaft. Ensure dowels on target magnet engage with holes on end of camshaft. Install and tighten mounting screw to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Do not overtighten magnet bolt. Overtightening could cause cracks in magnet. If magnet cracks, replace it.
  3. Install CMP sensor. Tighten CMP sensor mounting bolts to specification. Carefully attach electrical connector to CMP sensor. Installation at an angle may damage the sensor pins. Reconnect PCV valve hose. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
