Throttle Position Sensor: Installation
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Stratus and 2002 Chrysler Sebring. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Throttle shaft on throttle body slides into socket on TP sensor. Throttle shaft rests against tabs in socket on TP sensor.
- Install TP sensor on throttle body. When properly installed, TP sensor should rotate clockwise a few degrees so retaining screws may be installed. Slight tension should exist on TP sensor when rotating TP sensor.
- If difficult to rotate TP sensor into position when aligning retaining screws, remove TP sensor. Reinstall TP sensor so throttle shaft is on other side of tabs in socket on TP sensor. Tighten retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- After installing TP sensor, ensure throttle valve plate on throttle body is fully closed. If throttle valve plate is not fully closed, remove TP sensor. Reinstall TP sensor so throttle shaft is on other side of tabs in socket on TP sensor. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
