Removal (3.5L)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is located on timing belt housing, above driver's side camshaft. See Figure.
  2. Upper intake manifold must be removed for access to CMP sensor. See appropriate article in ENGINES. Disconnect CMP sensor harness connector. Remove CMP sensor bolt. Pull CMP sensor upward out of timing belt housing.
CAUTION: If CMP sensor is reused, old paper spacer must be removed from camshaft end of camshaft position sensor and a NEW paper spacer installed before installing CMP sensor. If using a NEW CMP sensor, ensure paper spacer is installed on camshaft end of CMP sensor.
