Transmission Range Sensor: Removal

- Valve body must be removed from transaxle for servicing of Transmission Range Sensor (TRS). Apply parking brake. Raise and support vehicle.
- Disconnect TRS harness connector. TRS harness connector is located on top of transaxle. See Figure.
- Disconnect shift cable from manual valve lever on transaxle. See Figure. Move manual valve lever fully clockwise as far as possible. This should be one position past the "L" position. Remove manual valve lever.
- Remove transaxle oil pan bolts from transaxle, allowing fluid to drain. Remove bolts and transaxle oil filter retaining clips. Remove transaxle oil filter with "O" ring from valve body. Allow fluid to fully drain. Note location of valve body-to-transaxle case bolts for installation reference.CAUTION: Use care when removing valve body, as accumulators and springs may fall from transaxle case. Note location of these components for installation reference.
- Remove valve body-to-transaxle case bolts. Carefully remove valve body from transaxle. Remove retaining screw for TRS from valve body. See Fig 1. Lift TRS with manual shaft from valve body.
