Fuel Gauge Inaccurate (Fuel Gauge Out Of Calibration)

  1. Perform instrument cluster self-diagnostic test. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SELF-TEST  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If fuel gauge does not move to all calibration points, go to next step. If fuel gauge moves to all calibration points during test, fuel gauge is not at fault. Go to FUEL GAUGE INACCURATE (FUEL LEVEL SENDING UNIT IS OUT OF CALIBRATION) .
  2. Remove instrument cluster from instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check power and ground circuits at instrument cluster connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If any problem is found, repair wiring as necessary. If no problem is found, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
